On September 1, 2024, at the Library Square of Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai)，Buildings 14 and 15 of Yuehua Garden, the sunshine of early autumn in Zhuhai encouraged the enthusiasm of all members of Phoenix School, BNU Zhuhai, and jointly welcomed the 2024 class of international new students. The Belt and Road School’s new students who major in MBA and College of Education for the Future’s new students who major in International Chinese Language Education will embark on a journey of life sublimation and write their own splendid chapter under the guidance of the school's motto of "Explore all knowledge; Integrate the diversity."

Under the background of the blue sky and white clouds, Chen Xi, Director of International Education Affairs of BNU Zhuhai and Dean of Phoenix School; Guo Kanjun, director of International Office; Qiu Yue, deputy director of International Office; He Jiangkun, Dean of Phoenix School, all the staff of the school and 22 volunteers witnessed the important moment of these international students' on-site registration. In order to ensure the smooth registration of international freshmen, leaders of Phoenix School attached great importance to the overall deployment, and cooperated with various functional departments and relevant colleges of the school. They made sure that necessary materials were prepared carefully and checked one by one, and the process of registration, signing conventions, collecting welcome packages, and accommodation registration, etc., went smoothly. All the details reflect the school's thoughtful attention to freshmen, so that they can get familiar with campus life quickly.

During the summer vacation, Phoenix School implemented the dormitory management regulations, renovated the international students’ dormitories at Buildings 14 and 15 of Yuehua Garden, cleaned the public living space, and carefully decorated Phoenix Space, aiming to create a modern, comfortable, warm and relaxed learning and living environment conducive to exchange and sharing for new international students. The dormitory allocation takes into account factors such as gender, nationality, culture and customs as much as possible, so as to give international students a period of running-in and adjustment for their collective life. We expect international students to adapt to study and life at BNU Zhuhai as quickly as possible, and integrate into the big family of Beijing Normal University.

At the check-in point in front of the library, the welcoming atmosphere was warm, and teachers and volunteers of the school were enthusiastic to provide detailed answers and help to the new international students. In Phoenix Space, located at Building 14 of Yuehua Garden, the atmosphere on site was lively and cheerful, and the check-in process was clear. Under the guidance of Ms. Zhang and Ms. Li of PHS, the new international students signed the "Act of Living Together" and the "Dormitory Accommodation Commitment Letter" in turn, received the welcome bag for entering the school, and received the dormitory key from the dormitory administrator of Buildings 14 and 15 of Yuehua Garden. At the same time, the international student volunteers warmly offered suggestions and helped the new partners tick off the 6 welcome background boards one by one. In Building 15 of Yuehua Garden, a colorful cherry blossom installation tree warmly welcomes the arrival of new international students, demonstrating the school's enthusiasm for the arrival of new students.

The international students’ management team of Phoenix School, together with Police officers Xian and Tang stationed at the High-Tech Branch of Zhuhai Municipal Public Security Bureau, visited the new students to ask about the check-in situation and get timely feedback information. Police officers Xian and Tang immediately conducted safety inspections and gave corresponding instructions, which fully reflected the school's great concern and attention to the safety of international students.

Yang Wanfen, a new student from Thailand, was impressed by the pleasant campus environment of BNU Zhuhai and moved by the enthusiasm of the teachers and volunteers of Phoenix School. Everything filled her with hope for her future college life.

Russian freshman Ma Ina likes Chinese very much. She wore clothes printed with the Chinese character "happiness" on the day of registration to express her best wishes to her teachers, friends and herself, in the hope that everyone around her can be happy, healthy and enjoy college life.

At the beginning of the new semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, Phoenix School of BNU Zhuhai will continue to serve the country’s major strategies, especially the strategy of opening up education to the outside world, accurately align with the Belt and Road Initiative, and help Beijing Normal University build itself into a comprehensive, research-oriented, world-class university with Chinese characteristics and leading teacher education. Setting foot on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the school will implement the university's strategic plan of global development, deepen and expand international exchanges and cooperation in the field of education and humanities, and build a new highland of opening up education to the outside world.
