In order to implement the requirements of school inspection and rectification and to promote the construction of the Development Strategy of "One University, Two Campuses," the second themed lecture on the Development Strategy of "One University, Two Campuses" was held on the afternoon of April 13th in the Muduo Building Lecture Hall A215 at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai.

Chen Xi, Director of International Education Affairs, Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai) and Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai (BNUZ), and dean of Phoenix School, delivered a themed report entitled "The Mission and Responsibility of Beijing Normal University to Serve the Returning of the Hearts and Souls of Hong Kong and Macao People" to the staff of the BNU Zhuhai and BNUZ. The lecture was presided over by Wei Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of BNU Zhuhai and BNUZ.

Chen Xi firstly explained the connotation of the returning of the hearts and souls of Hong Kong and Macao people and emphasized the mission and responsibility of BNU Zhuhai in her speech. She focused on the strategic role of universities in serving Hong Kong and Macao, the positioning of the Greater Bay Area, the overall situation of national development, and the academic advantages and development strategy of BNU Zhuhai.

To be specific, aiming at implementing “The Action Plan of Education Cooperation for the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area, and for Hong Kong and Macao,” she proposed the idea that the channel for attracting talents should be expanded and the mechanism of cultivating talents and retaining talents will be improved to gather innovation resources in the Greater Bay Area and to build a high-level transformative platform. Furthermore, she mentioned that we should expand social services and strengthen cultural exchanges and integration among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to gather young talents, enhance scientific research and innovation capabilities, build a social service system based on the Greater Bay Area, and to achieve the goal of training high-quality innovative talents with a global vision and world competitiveness.

Wei Wei summarized that for the internationalization of both BNU Zhuhai and BNUZ higher requirements have been put forward to meet the needs of the construction of BNU Zhuhai and the transformation and upgrading of BNUZ. It is expected that staff of BNU Zhuhai and BNUZ can always adhere to the principle of "high standard, new mechanism, internationalization," further emancipate the mind and draw on collective wisdom and absorb all useful ideas to actively expand cooperation with universities in Hong Kong and Macao. We should establish diversified partnership networks, enhance the level of education internationalization, actively promote the returning of the hearts and souls of Hong Kong and Macao citizens, and strengthen extensive overseas exchanges and cooperation. These will help make contributions to building Beijing Normal University into "a comprehensive, research-oriented, world-class university with Chinese characteristics and leader of teacher education."

In the next step, themed lectures concerning the 14th Five-year Development Plan and the national education priority development strategy will be given to the teaching and scientific research units as well as functional departments of BNU Zhuhai and BNUZ by the members of the leading group of BNU Zhuhai and BNUZ and leaders of some functional departments.
