Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai and Rangsit University, Thailand Signed Memorandum of Understanding

On June 14th, Dr. Piyasuda Mawai, Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Dr. Natchaporn Dechrach, Head of Chinese Language Department, College of Liberal Arts of Rangsit University in Thailand visited Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai). Chen Xi, Director of International Education Affairs and Dean of Phoenix School, BNU Zhuhai, Wang Xuesong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of International Chinese Language Education, and Feng Liping, Dean of the School of International Chinese Language Education, as well as relevant officials from the International Office and Phoenix School received the guests and held a meeting at the International Exchange Center.

Chen Xi welcomed Piyasuda Mawai and her delegation, expressed her appreciation for the participation of the College of Liberal Arts of Rangsit University in BNU Phoenix Forum (2022) held by Phoenix School, and gave a brief introduction on BNU Zhuhai. Wang Xuesong and Feng Liping introduced the basic situation of undergraduate and graduate talents cultivation programs, academic research, localization of international Chinese language teaching materials, resource bank construction, and dispatch of international Chinese language education overseas volunteers in the School of International Chinese Language Education at Beijing Normal University respectively. They also introduced, in detail, the progress of the summer international Chinese language education program entrusted by Phoenix School and Rangsit University to the School of International Chinese Language Education.

Piyasuda Mawai expressed her gratitude to Phoenix School and the School of International Chinese Language Education for their support in offering an opportunity for Rangsit University’s students to study Chinese language during the 2023 summer at BNU Zhuhai, and introduced the registration situation of Rangsit University’s students and the arrangement of the University. Piyasuda Mawai appreciated the beautiful scenes and humanistic atmosphere of BNU Zhuhai and the meticulous and thoughtful  arrangement of the summer program.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on international Chinese language education talent cultivation, international Chinese language teachers training, joint development of localized international Chinese language teaching materials, international Chinese language resource bank development and construction, academic research and holding of joint international conferences, the construction of an international Chinese language education teaching practice base in Thailand, and short-term international Chinese language education programs.

After the meeting, Chen Xi and Piyasuda Mawai, as representatives of both parties, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.


Rangsit University is a higher education institution in Thailand. Founded in 1985, Rangsit University is one of the first batch of Thai universities officially accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2007. It is also one of the universities recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Education's overseas supervision network for students planning to study abroad in Thailand. Rangsit University is one of the largest private universities in Thailand with the largest number of majors and is the only university in Thailand that has been awarded the "Excellent" grade by the Thailand Commission on Higher Education for consecutive years. The school currently has 19 modern teaching buildings, including libraries, hospitals, post offices, convenience stores, gyms, banks, and other supporting living facilities, and a new campus (Nakhon Pathom Campus) is under construction. Up to the end of 2022, Rangsit University has 89 undergraduate majors, 38 master's and 11 doctoral degree authorization points with more than 32,000 students. In addition, the University has two bilingual teaching pilot schools (kindergarten to high school) in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and a British International School (kindergarten to high school) in Phuket, with English as the instructional language, making it one of the best international schools in Southeast Asia.
