Phoenix School Held a Seminar on Cultural and Educational Exchanges Between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao

On the afternoon of March 15th, Phoenix School held a seminar on cultural and educational exchanges between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The seminar was focused on the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center and the preparation for the establishment of the Zhuhai-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center. Xin Jianbo, Director of Zhuhai Liaison Department of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region; Yang Xueying, Member of Zhuhai Political Consultative Conference; Chen Xi, Director of International Education Affairs, BNU Zhuhai and Dean of Phoenix School; Guo Kanjun, Director of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, BNU Zhuhai, and teachers from Phoenix School who are in charge of related work also attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Ling, Assistant to the Dean of Phoenix School.

Guo Kanjun, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office first introduced the development history, institutional setup, enrollment, discipline construction, development orientation and the integration and exchange of teachers and students from Hong Kong and Macao with that of BNU Zhuhai. Yang Xirui from Phoenix School made a report on the establishment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural and Exchange Center.

Later, Yang Xueying, Member of Zhuhai Political Consultative Conference, expressed her thoughts on the preparation for the establishment of the Zhuhai-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center. She made five main recommendations. Firstly, build a platform for top-level design and mechanism innovation; secondly, establish relevant mechanisms such as goals, norms, and incentives; the third one is to promote the in-depth integration of education chains, industry chains, and innovation chains; fourthly, enhance the level of internal and external two-way opening, and build a pilot demonstration area for cultural and educational exchanges between Zhuhai and Macao; and fifthly, ensure the implementation of tasks such as bringing in personnel, making target plans, carrying out activities, creating brands, and summarizing materials.


Director Xin Jianbo introduced the training center of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R. and the education and training needs of civil servants, teachers, professionals, young people and other groups in Macao. He hoped that Beijing Normal University can take advantage of the regional advantages of space and area to promote cultural and educational exchanges between Macao and Zhuhai from aspects such as teacher resources, methods, concepts, etc. He expressed his hope that Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R. could further play a role as a bridge and promote the in-depth integration of the two places in the fields of culture and education.

The teachers of Phoenix School had a full communication and spirited discussion with the representatives about the specific situation and further plans of the current work involving Hong Kong and Macao, the talent introduction policy in Zhuhai, and the two-way exchanges between Zhuhai and Macao.

Finally, Director Chen Xi introduced the development orientation of Phoenix School and the basic situation of the current construction, stated the construction goals of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center and the establishment vision of the Zhuhai-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center. She pointed out that in the future, education and training for Hong Kong and Macao should not only give full play to the advantages of Beijing Normal University in the field of humanities, but also fully expand the fields of natural science, language training, and also interdisciplinary fields, and actively carry out specific projects. We must make full use of the power of new technology to attract teachers, civil servants, young people and other groups in Hong Kong and Macao, so that Beijing Normal University can play the role of universities in serving national and local development, and help Hong Kong and Macao integrate into the overall development of the country.

The representatives and teachers at the meeting expressed their hope to establish long-term contacts through this meeting, and jointly promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center, the preparation for the construction of the Zhuhai-Macao Cultural and Educational Exchange Center, and the cultural and educational exchanges between Zhuhai and Macao. After the meeting, the delegates visited the campus and Phoenix Language Village under the guidance of Director Chen Xi and the participating teachers.
