On the morning of July 10th, the opening ceremony of the Summer International Chinese Language Education and Training Program co-hosted by Phoenix School and School of International Chinese Language Education, Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai ─ the class of college students from Rangsit University and Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand, was held in Phoenix Space, BNU Zhuhai, with Mr. He Jiangkun, Deputy Dean of Phoenix School serving as the host. Mr. Zhong Yongsheng and Mr. Yang Maochun, Deputy Heads of the Chinese Department of Rangsit University; Mr. Wu Chengnian, Associate Professor of the School of International Chinese Language Education, Beijing Normal University; Ms. Chen Xi, Dean of Phoenix School; Mr. He Jiangkun, Deputy Dean of Phoenix School; Mr. Yang Xirui and Ms. Zhang Ling, Assistants to the Dean of Phoenix School; the Chinese teachers of the Summer International Chinese Language Education and Training Program as well as 38 students from Rangsit University and Mae Fah Luang University, attended the opening ceremony.

First, Dean Chen Xi expressed her warm welcome to the teachers and students from Rangsit University and Mae Fah Luang University. She mentioned that this is the first year for BNU Zhuhai to hold the summer International Chinese Language Education and Training Program offline, and she was very pleased with the arrival of the Thailand students at the scenic Phoenix Valley. As an important base for Beijing Normal University to realize internationalization of education, it is BNU Zhuhai’s responsibility to promote the internationalization of the Chinese language and Chinese culture. She wished that everyone would have a pleasant experience when studying and living in the Greater Bay Area, and that they would learn the Chinese language better and feel the profoundness and colorfulness of Chinese culture by experiencing it in person, so as to contribute to the promotion of Chinese language education in Thailand.

Next, Mr. Wu Chengnian delivered a speech. He first welcomed the teachers and students from Thailand and introduced the beautiful valley campus and the campus life. Afterwards, he introduced in detail the course plan and teaching arrangement of the program, expecting that the students would be able to improve their Chinese language proficiency comprehensively through the extensive courses and experiencing local life and culture in person.

Mr. Zhong Yongsheng from Rangsit University expressed his gratitude to BNU Zhuhai for the learning opportunities. He pointed out that the international exchange activities of Rangsit University had been cut out in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and he was very excited and full of expectations that he could finally have face-to-face exchanges and learn from the teachers of BNU Zhuhai and the students fromMae Fah Luang University this year. He also encouraged the students to cherish this learning opportunity and work hard to harvest more from this program.

Finally, He Jiangkun, Deputy Dean of Phoenix School, announced that the opening ceremony of the Summer International Chinese Language Education and Training Program co-hosted by Phoenix School and School of International Chinese Language Education, Beijing Normal University─the Classes of Students from Rangsit University and Mae Fah Luang University was completed successfully and the teaching officially started.
