On the morning of August 4th, 2023, the commencement ceremony of the Summer International Chinese Language Education and Training Program co-hosted by Phoenix School at BNU Zhuhai and School of International Chinese Language Education at Beijing Normal University─the class of college Students from Thailand, was held successfully at Phoenix Space of Yuehua Garden of Phoenix School.
This training program was the first summer course for international students co-hosted by Phoenix School and School of International Chinese Language Education, Beijing Normal University. A total of 38 students from Rangsit University and Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand, participated in the program. Chen Xi, Dean of Phoenix School, Yang Xirui and Zhang Ling, Assistants to the Dean of Phoenix School, and Wu Chengnian, the teacher representative of the School of International Chinese Language Education, attended the commencement ceremony.
At the commencement ceremony student representatives spoke one by one, reporting on their learning experiences and sharing their feelings and abundant intellectual harvests from participating in this training program. They extolled high praises for the rich curriculum content and the considerate arrangements of campus life and study by the course team. Not only did they improve their Chinese language proficiency and communication skills but also broadened their horizons. Additionally, they had an opportunity to experience and appreciate China's history and culture, as well as the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in person. They look forward to more opportunities to return to China for further learning and improving their Chinese language proficiency in the future.
"Traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books." As an important part of this training program, cultural visits gave students a hands-on understanding of Chinese culture through on-site inspections. They also shared their inspection insights at the commencement ceremony.
Next, the students collectively showcased the learning results of the traditional Chinese martial art -Tai Chi - which represents the classic Chinese culture, winning a big applause. They completed their trip to China with beautiful Chinese songs and dance performances.
Finally, Dean Chen Xi extended her congratulations on the successful operation of this summer Chinese language education and training program and congratulated the students from Rangsit University and Mae Fah Luang University on their excellent performance. She encouraged them to continue their efforts in studying Chinese culture, promoting Chinese virtues, and fostering bonds between China and Thailand. Dean Chen Xi and Teacher Wu Chengnian presented the students with their transcripts and graduation certificates and took a group photo with them to celebrate the completion of the commencement ceremony.
