A Series of Activities for Jinding Middle School Students Held at BNU Zhuhai to Improve Their International Understanding

On December 8th, Phoenix School of Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai held a series of activities on campus to enhance international understanding for students of Jinding Middle School of Zhuhai High-tech Zone.

"Viewing China from China "-Visiting the intangible cultural heritage exhibition

Students came to the non-genetic workshop and visited the exhibition of famous porcelain works of art and non-genetic inheritance in Song Dynasty. Mr. Zhang Min led the students to appreciate the ancient works and contemporary intangible works of the five famous kilns of Ru, Guan, Ge, Jun and Ding as well as Long Quan kilns in the Song Dynasty. He explained about the shapes, patterns and decorations of different porcelains, as well as the historical stories behind them, helping middle school students to have a deeper understanding of ancient Chinese culture.

"Viewing the world from China" -A visit to French Village of Phoenix Language Village

Teacher Li Yimeng led the students to visit the French village of Phoenix Language Village. French foreign teacher Adeline and Ms. Huang Ju gave them a lecture on French culture and taught them communicative French. Students watched a lot of original album materials of France, experienced the beautiful natural scenery, unique customs, famous cultural events, distinctive architecture, romantic literature and art, and sampled special cuisine.


"Viewing China from the world"-taking part in cross-cultural exchange activities

The middle school students also interacted with international students from Yemen, Zimbabwe and Pakistan in Phoenix School. Through cross-cultural exchanges, students can deepen their understanding of world culture. Ma Ke, an international student, introduced Yemeni Republic and Arabic culture to the students from the aspects of geographical location, traditional costumes with national color and charming natural scenery. Qin Fen, another international student, showed Zimbabwe's humanistic characteristics from the aspects of language, religion and social class division. Li Ran, a Pakistani international student, introduced the local humanities and customs from the aspects of national traditional sports, cultural costumes, beautiful natural scenery and special cuisine. In the process of communication, students were engrossed and they interacted enthusiastically with each other and created a very lively atmosphere. While learning about other countries' cultures, they also showed the positive spirit of Chinese teenagers.

This international understanding activity, carefully prepared by Phoenix School for students of Jinding Middle School, has been unanimously recognized and praised by teachers and students. The two sides will continue to cooperate in a series of international education activities in the future, aiming at enhancing students' global awareness and open-mindedness, facilitating them to understand the progress of human civilization and trends of global development, show their respect to the multi-cultural differences in the world, encourage students to go out of campus and actively participate in cross-cultural exchanges, and pay attention to global challenges faced by mankind to cultivate international talents.
