April 15 is known as "National Security Education Day." In order to implement the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China, and to incorporate the national security education into the national education system, on the morning of 15th, the online opening ceremony of the first "national security education training course" hosted by Beijing Normal University for primary and secondary school teachers in Macao was held simultaneously in Beijing, Zhuhai and Macao. Shoujun Wang, vice President of Beijing Normal University, delivered an online speech. Then Jiliang Shen, the inspector of Teaching Materials Bureau of the Ministry of Education, and Bosheng Lao, director of Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macao SAR made taped speeches, respectively.
Vice President Wang pointed out that the training was to implement the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China and integrate security education into the national education system. The main purpose of the training was to cultivate a group of teachers who are familiar with national security education and can play a leading role for Macao. He hoped that through this training, teachers could enrich the knowledge of national security and enhance their ideological understanding about national security, so as to further promote our national security education into the campus, the classroom and the brain, in order to further promote the healthy and rapid development of Macao education and the consolidation of Macao's long-term prosperity and stability.
Inspector Shen stressed that where there is no country, there is no home and where there is a country, there is national security. National security includes political, economic, cultural and other issues besides the physical boundary lines of land, sea and air and so on. We will strengthen the training of national security education, adhere to the principle of "one country, two systems," strengthen cultural identity, and pass on the awareness of national security to teenagers in Macao through primary and secondary school teachers, so that the youth will become a new generation who love the country, love Macao and who are committed to national security.
Director Lao expressed the ardent hope for the primary and secondary school teachers in Macao. He hopes that through this training activity, the Macao teaching staff can understand the importance of national security to the national development and enhance their understanding of national conditions. What’s more, he also expected that all of the attendees can put what they have learned into their daily teaching, and further promote the education of the youth to love China and Macao. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to Beijing Normal University for providing valuable opportunities to Macao primary and secondary school teachers.
Macao primary and secondary school teachers attended the online opening ceremony
The training was jointly organized by the Institute for National Security and Development Strategy of Beijing Normal University, Phoenix School of Zhuhai Campus, School of National Security and Emergency Management, and College of Continuing Education and Teacher Training with the strong support and cooperation of the Teaching Materials Bureau of the Ministry of Education and Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau. The training course, which included a total of six sessions, was given online to more than 100 primary and secondary school teachers in Macao mainly from the view of national security, homeland security, economic security, resource security, bio-safety and educational teaching methods. The systematic training of the national security education will greatly enhance Macao primary and secondary school teachers’ awareness of national security, and they will pass it to the students in Macao in the actual teaching process. It is of great and far-reaching significance to the steady progress of the cause of "one country, two systems" and the long-term prosperity and stability of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
